I have finally broke down (literally!) and went out and bought a brand new modern PC!

(I know, I know... SHOCKING!)

2024 model with Windows 11 (I know, another shocker!)

I still got a LOT of playing around to do with it..  I already "DE-bugged" it (yes, removed all the mal/spy/trojan/paywall/cripple-ware out) and, sure, I have more to catch and do...  then OTS goes IN! (once they reset my licenses, that is heheh)

after that, I will get back to the OHML writing  (that's also about ready for release, too!)

UPDATE:

Ots licenses were reset and Ots went in the new box... BUT...  I am NOT HAPPY with this WinDOHs 11 crap AT ALL  snags, traps and cloudfare EVERYwhere!  UGHH!  and theres even update problems! (dumb thing keeps telling me to update to something thats not even for this version of WinDOHs, so it trys- then FAILS.. then trys again  over and over and over and over, wash, rinse, repeat!)

I can turn OFF winDOHs UpCRATE, but then I don't stay current... (and as long as this keeps happening, it doesn't get other updates anyways!)

the whole thing is about to go BACK to the store!

oh, I kinda FORGOT about this thread...

Since, that machine has "self destructed" 3 times over, now...  its on its FOURTH (re)install of WinDOHs 11 and, so for, its been accepting proper updates-  but Ots has NOT been put in since Otscorp will no-longer reset my license keys (I assume they think I'm doing something fishy or somethng?) either way, I'll WAIT this one out...  or maybe switch to something ELSE... like LINUX or MacOS (or Rivendell, Temple, BeOS, Mint, FreeBSD, or whatever I DARE to attempt) and kick this Windows 11 to the curb!

The PROBLEM is the hardware is specifically-designed for WINDOWS 11.. and its EFI and HW keys and all that phun stuff... it may be a WHILE before I have a trusting and working system!  for NOW, at least, the current version seems STABLE (whatnot) over having to reinstall it FOUR times now...  I expect the NEXT "bad" update to take it all down AGAIN!

I'd have had that thing back to the store after the first re-install.

I bought a no-name cheapie just after my house burnt down, because I had to have something to work with whilst waiting for the insurance company to cough up. The build quality is pretty ordinary. In fact, it ripped the entire corner hinge out of the lid, killing the LCD screen only weeks after I bought it. However, that was replaced under warranty and I must say that it has been very reliable in every other way, including playing Ots on a daily basis.

The insurance is now settled and I have bought a top-end Asus gaming laptop - not because I play games, but because they are designed to be abused by gamers and they usually put the best/fastest components in them to keep up with the demands of the gaming software. As we say in Oz, "It is built like a brick sh*thouse".

With some luck DJ Zath you can contact Ots and remind them who you are on this forum and of the issues you've had so they'll re-issue the licence. Hope you get sorted!
