Cats... I mourn your loss. I know I know.... they are still there. But as mentioned earlier, I would make new cats for each wedding I did. When it was time to play the cake cutting song, I one clicked one tab and all the specialty songs I needed for that wedding were right there. When it was time to play music again, I one clicked one tab and all the sings I had pre-selected for that wedding dance were right there. It is faster than the system they have in 1.90 and when you have to quickly switch from one cat to another you can't beat 1.85.

It took me a while, but I've finally found a way to script the OMQL field - so when one of us gets a chance to write an AHK file, you can have whatever buttons you like (categories or more advanced queries like only karaoke, only video, anything other than karaoke and so on).

You can simply use Shift+Left.

From the keyboard shortcuts guide:

Thanks Adam. I was looking at it the 'old' way before - thinking that since these weren't windows I couldn't focus on them. Of course this means that I can (and help out people missing the category buttons too).

This sounds very much like what a work area is for, or in 1.90, it's called prepare. I have found adding songs to a work area very handy in the new upgrade.

Could you explain more how this works? Are you saying it is possible to have a cat selector display like this...?

This does help. How did you get the cat selector to appear on the screen like that? How do you add and delete cats to that display?

There are things which are much quicker in 1.90.

Ctrl+A selects all now in the library, playlist, karaoke and history areas, rather than right click and select all. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V too to copy and paste on the Search and OMQL areas. One shortcut might be to type a cat name you use often then right click to copy. Then you can right click to paste the cat name into the OMQL area each time you want to go back to it, rather than type out each time.

Having got used to the look of 1.90, I went back to look at a 1.85 Webcaster licence I also have last night. It really does look dated now by comparison.

Hi Dub2Dat, had a play with Darryl's script, couldn't get it to do all what I wanted, but here is something to play with. Just put your Categories in the Cat.ini file (up to 16) and away you go.
There is an CatButton.exe (you don't need AHK to run it) as well as CatButton.ahk script. Anyone feel free to fix up script!

One thing - it doesn't handle multiple word cat names such as "Rock Playlist" either within quotes or without, but nice all the same.

One thing I think is neat, although I thought it was a silly addition at first, is the turntables. For those of us who remember records, it gives a quick indication of where in a song Ots is playing. The strobes are cool, too.

That should be reasonably trivial to fix in the script - just add the quotes around the variable in the SendInput/SendPlay call. If kenmax doesn't beat me to it, I'll do it for you tonight.
